Sugar

SUGAR CANE.png

Brazilian Sugar - Introduced during the colonial period, sugarcane has become one of the main crops in the Brazilian economy. Brazil is not only the largest producer of sugar cane, but also the first in the world in the production of sugar and ethanol and is increasingly conquering the foreign market with the use of biofuels as an energy alternative.

sugar cane is an example of a renewable and versatile culture, which can be used as a source of clean energy and raw material products. Brazil is now the world's largest producer of sugarcane. The modernization of 430 plants in operation in the country, with the adoption of new technologies from planting to the production of sugar, ethanol and bioelectricity, strengthened the sector, recognized worldwide for its pioneering and productive efficiency.

PRODUCTION OF TRANSGENIC SUGAR CANE IN BRAZIL COULD DOUBLE

As of the next planting season, the production of transgenic sugarcane in Brazil will double, according to statements by the Canavieira Technology Center (CTC) to the Reuters agency.

The CTC is the main supplier of genetically modified cane in the world and had the first commercial approval of a sugar cane in the world. According to the calculations of the Scepter during the 2022-2023 cycle, the hectares planted with varieties resistant (Bt) to stem-boring insects will be 70,000. Almost double the 37,000 cultivated in 2021.

MAIN TYPES / SPECS OF BRAZILIAN SUGAR

Chewing Sticks: These are varieties of sugar cane that have a soft, fibrous center that is good for chewing. The fibers tend to stick together when chewing, making them easier to spit out once the sugar is gone. Syrup sticks.

Syrup Sticks: We have a variety of sugar types that don't crystallize easily, but are good for making sugar syrup. They are used commercially but also in the home garden.

Crystal Canes:Crystal canes are largely commercial varieties with high concentrations of sucrose that are used to make crystallized table sugar.

About ICUMSA: ICUMSA is a world organization that brings together the activities of the National Committees for Sugar Analysis in more than thirty member countries. The work is carried out under various Subject headings, each led by an Arbiter.

BRAZIL PRODUCED A RECORD AMOUNT OF SUGAR HALF IN 2022

Brazil's central-southern region produced a record amount of sugar in the second half of May and nearly 10% more ethanol than in the same period a year earlier, as dry weather allowed for a rapid pace of cane processing industry group Unica said on Thursday.

The mills of the region produced 2.62 million tons of sugar in the second half of May, 2.6% more than a year ago and above market expectations. Ethanol production increased 9.1% to 1.98 billion liters, Unica said.

Sugar and ethanol plants crushed 43.22 million tons of cane in the second half of May, 1.9% more than a year ago.

Traders and analysts had expected sugar production of 2.59 million tons and cane crushing of 43.04, according to a survey by energy and commodity information provider S&P Global Platts.
